The Southeast Region's Resources

Resources are the things we use to complete a task. For example, a pencil is a resource to write something and a car is a resource to get you from one place to another.

The Southeast Region has many natural resources. Natural Resources are resources we find in nature. There are three natural resources that the Southeast Region has a lot of. These natural resources are...

The land in the Southeast Region is very fertile. Fertile means "rich" or "fruitful", which is a way of saying that the land in the Southeast Region is very healthy and good for growing different types of crops. Some of the crops grown in the Southeast Region are peanuts, oranges, peaches, watermelons, bananas, cotton, and more.

Coal is a resource taken from the Appalachian Mountains. Once the coal in the Earth is gone it won't be able to come back, so coal is a nonrenewable resource. Coal is used for many things. We use coal to heat our houses, to make soap, and to make some plastics.

The Southeast Region also has a lot of phosphate. Phosphate is a chemical that's taken from mining. Phosphate is used in fire extinguishers, toothpaste, mayo, fertilizers, and different types of soda. Phosphate is a nonrenewable resource.
