The states in the Southwest Region have a very similar climate. Most of the Southwest Region has an arid, or dry, desert climate. However, in the mountains, where the elevations are higher, the temperatures can get pretty cold. Most mountain ranges get heavy snowfall. It's also possible that some states further north can get a light snowfall, as well. 

Unlike most regions, the Southwest Region doesn't get very noticeable seasons. The temperatures are about the same through the winter, fall, spring, and summer seasons. This region experiences very little climate change.
