The Western Region's Resources

Resources are the things we use to complete a task. For example, a pencil is a resource to write something and a car is a resource to get you from one place to another.

The Western Region
has 25 million acres of farmland. That's about 40,000 miles of land! This land is perfect for growing many different crops, like corn and oranges, and for raising animals.

Solar energy is energy that comes from the sun. States like Hawaii and California get a lot of sunlight. This sunlight can be used to create energy to power homes and small businesses. Solar energy is a renewable resource since more can always be found.

Oil is a black liquid that's found in the ground. Since there's very little oil in the world, it comes at a high price. Oil is used for many things like crayons and gas for cars. Oil is a nonrenewable resources because it can't be replaced once it's been used.
