The catacombs in Paris, France have an interesting history. If you ever get the chance to visit the catacombs, you'll notice that they're underground tunnels with skulls and bones lining the walls. France is a small country and, eventually, around the mid-1700s, there were few places to bury the dead. To make room for more people in the cemeteries, the bones of the long-dead were moved and placed in the tunnels of the catacombs.
