The Southeast Region's Landforms
Landforms are the different shapes on the Earth that change how the Earth looks.
The Southeast Region has many landforms. Some of those landforms are (click each bubble with each landform from left to right)...
The Appalachian Mountains is a 2,000-mile long mountain range that starts in Alabama and Georgia. The Appalachian Mountains stretches up north, past the Southeast Region, into the Northeast Region and even further into Canada, where it ends.

There are several important waterways in the Southeast Region, including the Chesapeake Bay near Virginia, the Mississippi River (the second longest river in the United States), the east coast by the Atlantic Ocean, and the Ohio River that cuts along the borders of Kentucky and West Virginia.
These waterways make it easier for trade and transportation.

Wetlands are areas of land flooded by water. They're the environments of many animals that live in swampy places.
Many of the larger wetlands
in the Southeast Region are in Florida, Virginia, and Louisiana. These areas are home to a lot of mosquitoes. Wetlands are slowly going away because of humans but are needed for many animal species to
survive.

The people in the Southeast Region have shaped this land to make it fit their purposes.
